Academician Ali Abbasov: "The first national videoconferencing system is an important platform for conducting online conferences in Azerbaijan."
On August 4, Director of the ANAS High-Tech Park (VT Park), academician Ali Abbasov spoke at the opening ceremony of an international online conference on the topic: "The coronavirus pandemic: from scientific research to ensuring a healthy future."
Noting that it takes a long time to defeat the coronavirus, the academician added that many countries, including Azerbaijan, can overcome the current situation with minimal losses if they make the right decisions and implement certain organizational and medical measures.
Academician Ali Abbasov recalled that the Presidium of ANAS adopted a decree on the establishment of a Center for Biomedical Technologies under the authority of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, and said that recently, certain events are being carried out aimed at establishing the work of the center, and it is planned that the center will begin its activities in the near future.
The scientist noted that, being a great danger, the coronavirus at the same time had a positive stimulating effect on the development of many industries, especially high technologies: “It is known that with the spread of COVID-19 in the world there is an accelerated development of a number of industries, among which medical and biological areas, as well as information technology. For example, during a pandemic, the issue of providing medical services through digital platforms came to the fore. "
The VT Park Director added that educational institutions were also closed due to the quarantine regime, which led to the organization of distance education, which was implemented in our country at the highest level. Thus, it is possible that distance learning will become the main choice in the future.
Speaking about predicting the spread of coronavirus, academician Ali Abbasov said that this issue is currently the topic of extensive research, a forecasting model is being developed taking into account the conditions of social distancing.
The academician noted that several scientific programs have already been developed in the world to combat coronavirus using artificial intelligence technologies. Having said that Azerbaijan also has experience in this area, the scientist spoke about the successful testing of the first national videoconferencing system created by the company Emsys, which received the status of a resident of VT Park, and meeting all modern requirements, which can be used as a virtual platform for videoconferencing , collective online discussions and various public events: “The system opens up wide opportunities for establishing flexible and effective communication between organizations that are faced with the problem of COVID-19, etc., meets modern standards and, unlike its counterparts in the world, more profitable and accessible from the point of view of national security ”.
The academician also highly appreciated the "E-Təbib" program created by TƏBİB and stressed that such programs have a positive effect on predicting the spread of coronavirus and developing methods to combat it.
In conclusion of his speech, the director of VT Park thanked the organizers of the conference and expressed his confidence that the event will contribute to obtaining successful results in the fight against coronavirus.
